Summer vacation is on the minds of many, and with that, we find ourselves prepping our camper so we can take on those epic adventures that await us this summer!
Typically, when we go to get our camper ready, there is some cleaning done in order to get any dust off of things, rewashing counters, table tops, floors, and the bathroom. Washing the bedding and ensuring we have tanks filled and the batteries charged. However, this year, we were met with an unexpected surprise as we went to prep our camper.
Living in the country, we see a lot of rodents that pop up here and there. Well, as we went to prep our camper, we noticed the mattress seemed a bit off like someone had messed with it. When we went to remove the bedding, we found a surprise. A mouse had made a home in the mattress. This was something that was offsetting and due to the issue, we had to not only dispose of the mattress but also go through the rest of the camper thoroughly for us to see if there were any other traces of the newest short-term resident.
Luckily for us, we did not find any other damage that would prompt other items to need to be replaced. We also found that the resident mouse had been living off of a box of snacks that had been mistakenly left behind in storage under the bed. After clearing out the camper of anything that might attract more rodents in need of a home, and also securing the camper ensuring the windows were closed properly (found evidence of a window having been left cracked open from last summer that had been missed), we began looking for a new mattress for our camper.
