Review: THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE ‘POWER UP EDITION’

Family movie nights are one of my favorite nights of the week. It is a time where we take the time to find new movies or shows to share, and watch together. We find in our home, the time to be a great way to unwind together at the end of a long week, and like everyone else in our house, Wyatt is always on the lookout for new movies to add when it’s his night to pick the movie. So, when we were sent the new movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie ‘Power Up Edition’ for review, Wyatt was very excited to make this his pick and make the movie night one we could all enjoy together! About a month ago, my mom took me to the movies to watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie. This movie was amazing, one that my friends and I talked about for weeks as everyone seemed to go and see it as well. And I knew that when it was available to watch at home, I would be sharing the movie during family movie night. So when my mom said that we were given a copy for review I was very excited!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the perfect movie for gamers of all ages. Not only did my brother and sister like the movie, but my parents did too. They liked the nostalgia, where in various parts they recognized games or theme songs from games they used to play. The same could be said for my sister and brother and myself as well. It was like the Super Mario Bros. games we play together had come to life on the screen in a fun story that reminded me of some of the story themes that the characters follow in the games.

I also liked that they took Mario and Luigi and made them more like real life characters that go into a game world. They start out as plumbers who maybe are not the greatest but then they magically end up in the Mushroom Kingdom where many of those fun characters from the games, come to life, needing the help of the clumsy plumbers who go on a wild journey in order to save the day!
