Our daily lives can become quite busy and with that daily chaos we take on, we tend to deal with our own individual shares of stress. These stresses can come from work, home life, finances, and even our daily commutes can cause stress, and like many, when it comes to decompressing, I have found that meditation can make all the difference.
I learned the importance of daily meditation years ago, as we grew our family while dealing with both internal and external stresses. I was feeling overwhelmed, which led me to have feelings of anger and holding in a lot of tension. After visiting with a friend and venting, I was asked if I had ever tried meditating. For me, that just did not seem like a feasible solution to how I was feeling daily, but I was losing sleep and feeling like I was pushing my loved ones away. I also thought that I did not have the time to meditate, and found a million and one excuses until I got to a point where I was on the verge of what I felt was a breakdown. So, instead of going over my list of excuses on time and whatnot, I took a break in a busy morning. I had completed many tasks for the morning, I had kids who were either at school or taking a nap. Leaving me to have some time on my hands. With that, I went on YouTube and sought out meditation music.
After going over many tracks and reading what the various sessions were intended for, I found one that was a 30-minute relaxation/destressing session. I went into the meditation, following all prompts, and before I knew it, my 30 minutes was completed. When I was back to being fully aware, I realized how good I felt. It was like night and day. I still had the tasks ahead for the day, but I went about them with a very different attitude and I truly felt lighter in my thoughts. I realized that if one session can make such a difference, to create a change in my own personal life, meditation was a necessity for me. Leading me to set a time each day since, to take the time to meditate.
